Plant details
This bamboo produces masses of dense, dark green foliage which is evergreen during most winters. The stems are large andthick and, with age, the stem colour changes from dark green to a lighter golden yellow-green. This is one of the hardiest bamboos and will withstand heavy frosts and bitter winds, making it suitable for all parts of the UK. It can be planted in containers, but also works well when used to create a screen within the garden, either for privacy or to hide sheds and dustbins. It's quick to establish itself but can be a bit too vigorous for use in small gardens. Plant the bamboo in a root-control bag to restrict its growth and keep it under control.
