Found growing wild in North America from Maine and Ontario to Georgia, the pitch pine makes a conical-shaped tree that useful as a specimen tree or as part of a windbreak. The thick, grey-green needles are led in groups of three. Yellow-brown female cones stay on the tree for several years. Plant in a sunny spot in well-drained soil.
