Plant details

Holder of the Royal Horticultural Society's prestigious Award of Garden Merit, 'Early Onward' produces heavy crops of well-filled, blunt pods. Sow outdoors from March to June for cropping between June and October. Peas need well-drained but moist soil. Before sowing, dig in lots of organic matter, such as compost. Most varieties need to be given some support, such as netting or pea sticks. For the juiciest peas, water the plants once a week as soon as the plants begin to flower and form pods.
