More a succulent border perennial than a shrub because it doesn't develop permanent woody stems, Agave 'Cornelius' is a variegated, low-growing agave.

While regarded by many as an indoor or seasonal plant for growing outdoors in summer, this variety is said to be able to survive temperatures down to -8°C. It eventually forms an enormous rosette of stiff, dangerously pointed leaves. Little is known about the origin of this cultivar, but the parent species may be Agave americana.

Grow Agave 'Cornelius' in well-drained soil in full sun. Protect from winter wet, alternatively grow in containers which you can move indoors in autumn.
