Savoy cabbages have crisp, juicy crinkled leaves and solid hearts. Traditionally they were regarded as winter cabbages, but modern hybrids such as Brassica oleracea capitata group 'Wivoy' mature sooner, for use in late-summer. Summer savoy cabbages have lighter semi-crinkled leaves and a milder flavour. Both kinds should be sown for a long season of use.

For best results grow Brassica oleracea capitata group 'Wivoy' in well-prepared soil. Net plants to protect from butterflies and pigeons.
