Clematis spooneri is a an extremely vigorous clematis, which is smothered in small, white scented flowers in late spring and early summer. It will quickly cover a large fence or wall, but may need sturdy supports as mature plants can be heavy. Flowers are white with broad, blunt tips and wavy edges.

Often known as a 'white montana', Clematis spooneri goes by many names, including Clematis montana var. sericea, Clematis chrysocoma and Clematis chrysocoma var. sericea.

As Clematis spooneri falls into Pruning Group One, pruning is not necessary. However you may wish to keep the growth in check by giving it a trim in spring.
