Echinaceas are tall herbaceous perennials with large, cone-shaped flowers that are extremely attractive to bees and other pollinators. They have grown in popularity in recent years, thanks to the trend for prairie-style planting, but they also work well in informal herbaceous schemes, especially in wildlife gardens, where they can be planted in drifts with other tall perennials such as rudbeckia and Verbena bonariensis.

Echinacea 'Southern Belle' bears deep magenta-pink, fully double flowers with downwards-facing lower petals that give the cones a skirt-like appearance. Flowers are long lasting and excellent for cutting.
