Heucheras are native to the woodlands of North America. They tend to grow in dense clumps and have brightly coloured foliage. They thrive in shade and make great groundcover plants. While plants are mainly grown for their foliage, inconspicuous flowers in summer add to their charm.

Heuchera ‘Berry Smoothie’ bears dramatic berry-red foliage, which deepens to purple. It works well in mixed herbaceous borders in partial shade, particularly when grown alongside lime-green heucheras such as ‘Lime Marmalade’. Cream flowers are borne on strong stems in summer.
