Ice plant, Sedum spectabile, is an old-fashioned perennial, bearing cabbage-like rosettes of succulent foliage. It makes a striking feature in autumn when masses of flat, bright pink flowerheads apppear on upright stems. Its flowers are extremely attractive to late-flying butterflies and bees.

Sedum spectabile 'Carl' bears blue-green rosettes of succulent foliage, above which tightly packed heads of green buds form, opening to reveal masses of tiny bright pink flowers. For best results grow Sedum spectabile 'Carl' in full sun in well-drained soil. Divide clumps every few years to improve flowering.
