Tropaeolum majus 'Alaska Mixed'

Nasturtiums are easy to grow, vigorous annuals with large disc-shaped leaves that smell like capers and bright flowers from mid-summer onwards. They're a magnet for bees and can be used to lure small and large white butterflies away from brasica crops.

The Alaska Series of nasturtiums is rather special because the leaves are conspicuously marbled in green and white. The vivid, multicoloured blooms add to the display. Tropaeolum majus 'Alaska Mixed' has flowers in the range of yellow, orange, mahogany or cream, making very attractive, dwarf plants. The flowers can be eaten in salads and the immature seeds pickled and used like capers.

Grow Tropaeolum majus 'Alaska Mixed' in well-drained soil in full sun. Sow seed direct from mid-spring.
