Plant details

Shrubby potentillas are very easy to grow in most soils and provide a long season of colour, ranging from white to orange and red. Varieties in yellow shades are most common, reflecting the colour of the main parent, P. fruticosa, a hardy and robust plant, shade tolerant but flowering best in sun. 'Princess' is one of the smaller varieties, a dwarf arching plant ideal for growing at the front of the border. Annual pruning is important to maintain shape every few years cut growth to ground level in spring to rejuvenate bushes.
