This container is proof that simple arrangements can produce dramatic results. Agapanthus produce breathtaking sky-blue flowers on long elegant stems all through summer. These plants are easy to grow and thrive in pots. Although it can take a couple of years for them to establish, your patience will be rewarded with an abundance of flowers.
Plant it:

At its best:

Cover the bottom of the pot with crocks, then top up with compost. Agapanthus don't like being planted deep, so bury the bulbs with their tops just below soil level. Stand the pot in full sun. Over the winter, move the pot to a sheltered spot and protect the crowns with a mulch of straw or ash.
"Water regularly but sparingly and feed fortnightly during the growing season with a high-potash fertiliser, such as tomato feed. "
"Agapanthus flower best when they're slightly pot bound, so plant them in a container smaller than you'd usually use for two plants. "
