If you're short of sun in your garden but want an interesting summer display, try this rich blend of foliage plants. Both the plectranthus and begonias perform well in shade.

Cover the bottom of the container with crocks, then fill it two-thirds with compost.

Plant the plectranthus in the centre of the container, sandwiched between the begonias. Top up with compost, firming it around the roots with your fingers.

Cover the container with horticultural fleece or move indoors if frost is forecast. Bring the begonias in at the end of summer to use as houseplants.
