Daffodils such as 'Jetfire' trumpet the arrival of spring just as well in pots and containers as they do in borders and grassy banks. A palette of golds, cherry-reds and pinks creates a heart-warming display. Simply deadhead to keep the display tidy.

Apart from the bellis daisies, all the plants will come back every year and can be planted in the garden once flowering has finished.

Create a spring container packed with colourful flowers, in just three easy steps.

You Will Need

  • Trough
  • Old growing bag
  • Multi-purpose, peat-free compost
  • Narcissus 'Jetfire' (2)
  • Pink bellis daisies (6)
  • Heather plants
  • Polyanthus 'Gold Laced' (2)

Line the trough with an old compost bag, to prevent it from drying too quickly. Then, fill the trough roughly halfway with multi-purpose compost.

Add in the larger daffodil plants first by placing centrally. Arrange the other plants around the daffodils, aiming to create pops of colour with the bellis daisies, polyanthus and heather.

Step 3

Watering the container

Once all the plants are added, fill in any gaps with compost and settle in the plants by giving the container a thorough watering.
