Plant details

R. yakushimanum is a Japanese species only found wild on a few windswept mountain peaks, but well known as the source of numerous popular garden varieties. It makes a dense and compact mound of foliage, freely-branching and covered at flowering time with trusses of funnel-shaped blooms. These fade from soft pink to white with conspicuous green speckles. A robust and desirable species, wider than it is high and very reliable. Sometimes listed as R. degronianum subsp. Yakushimanum.
