Plant details
This very useful and attractive ground cover shrub was introduced in 1984 as one of Kordes' Game Bird Series, others include 'Pheasant' and 'Partridge'. It is a plant for large areas, soon disguising a manhole cover or clothing a sunny bank with its low spreading branches and prolific shiny foliage, hugging the ground and moulding itself to contours. The flowers appear lavishly for about two months, smothering plants with light pink single blooms and effectively suppressing most weeds. The Royal Horticultural Society have given it their prestgious Award of Garden Merit. To prune, simply trim back any excessive growth in late winter or early spring.
