Sophora microphylla 'Sun King' is a tall and broad evergreen shrub, producing yellow flowers in late winter and early spring that droop down with long anthers. Its leaves are glossy and dark green, smaller than those of Sophora japonica. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

Grow Sophora microphylla 'Sun King' in full sun in well-drained soil. Propagate by grafting in late-winter.
