Plant details
This slow-growing tree is broadly upright. It has large, dark green leaves, divided into leaflets and flat-topped, white flower-heads in early summer. These are followed by spherical, red berries. In winter it has sticky, red buds on stout stems. Sorbus are trees that will tolerate atmospheric pollution and they look good as specimen trees in the smaller garden, or in a woodland or wild setting. The Royal Horticultural Society have given it their prestigious Award of Garden Merit.
