Sometimes known as 'Nyewoods', Spiraea japonica 'Nana' is an attractive small flowering shrub that is easy to grow. It forms a dwarf mound with small leaves, up to 1cm (1/2in) long. Dark pink flowers cover the plant from mid- to late summer. For the best performance, cut back the plant hard in early spring before the buds burst. The Royal Horticultural Society have given it their prestigious Award of Garden Merit.
