Tagetes patula is native to Mexico. A low-growing annual flower, it's easy to grow from seed and blooms over a long period. It's grown mainly as a bedding plant at the edge of herbaceous borders but is often grown alongside tomatoes as companion plant, to ward off white fly.
Tagetes patula 'Honeycomb' is a dwarf French marigold, bearing double, crested flowers with mahogany-red petals edged with golden yellow. For best results grow Tagetes patula 'Honeycomb' in free-draining soil in full sun and feed weekly with a high-potash fertiliser. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering.
