Ideal for a Mediterranean-type garden featuring drought-resistant plants, this evergreen small shrub has toothed, glossy, aromatic green leaves and rose-pink flowers. It needs a sunny, sheltered site and tolerates poor soil. Cut back after flowering to stop it getting straggly. Grow it in rock or gravel gardens. A good alternative is the pale blue T. fruticans, which is quite happy in almost pure gravel, and shoots up 120cm after pruning.
