Tulipa 'Purissima'

Plant details

Tulipa 'Purissima' has beautiful white to creamy white flowers. It's ideal for growing in large clumps in a border or as a focal point of a spring container display on the patio, particularly among darker coloured tulips. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM). It makes an excellent cut flower.

Plant bulbs in November as this minimises the risk of attack from the fungal disease, tulip fire, which causes the foliage to become distorted and covered with fuzzy, grey fungal growth and the flowers to either fail to open or to be marked with bleached spots. For best results grow Tulipa 'Purissima' in well-drained soil in full sun. Allow foliage to fullly die down after flowering and feed with a high-potash fertiliser to maximise chances of flowering the following year.
