Plant details
An unusual sedge, this forms dense clumps of short, arching, grassy, evergreen foliage. Some plants have stronger red tones in the foliage than others, so select the best the colour is strongest on new foliage in late spring. Plants are not fast-growing and look most effective planted in groups as leafy ground cover at the front of a sunny border. Team them with perennial grasses that enjoy similar conditions and avoid planting with anything vigorous that would smother them, as the plants need plenty of sun to thrive.
