sparrowhawk swoops.    I also hang peanut feeders near roses and clematis so they go and hoover up the aphids for their young.   I never need to spray with anything.  They pick caterpillars off the veggies too. The ones round my way seem very fond of birches

they are and how i can get rid of them. Thank you. The bugs are probably scale insect or just aphids. If scale insect they live in little hard grey shells under the leaves - scrape off with a finger nail or wipe with a soap based insecticide. Chris - Squirrels

Slugs and Snails

-shells at their roots and my broccoli seem to be thriving much better as slugs and snails don't like sage apparently.  The ones left without sage have been eaten to a skeleton.  I also have a wall of chives along my brocolli to deter aphids and enhance flavour.
