Breathe deeply as you enter my sitting room this month and you’ll take in the powerful, almost intoxicating fragrance of paper-white narcissi.I planted the Narcissus papyraceus bulbs last autumn, in a glass bowl layered with gravel. All I've done
ordered from one mail order supplier in October still haven't arrived. It was actually Kate Bradbury, one of my fellow bloggers on this site, who led me to make another bulb order. In her blog Growing daffodils, Kate mentioned an early flowering narcissus
that I can bring a few sprigs laden with red berries indoors as decorations. And if I get the timing right there are also pots of deliciously fragrant paper-white narcissus at their best to cheer-up a cool window sill. One tradition I remember the late
with compost, then plant a layer of early flowering dwarf bulbs like crocus, grape hyacinths or dwarf narcissus on top. In that way you'll get two (or more) flower displays from each pot. Roll on spring!
