Plants for either side of front door?

Growing holly as a pot plant?

 left the cut branches lying on the ground to keep cats away. A year later they had rooted! I agree.    Holly is fairly slow-growing, so ideal for a pot and has the benefit of being evergreen. I use holly prunings to put in a tub of spring bulbs.   It helps
