Strange Shrub

pruning

it back by a third 2 years ago,since then  its gone berserk and has grown about 6 feet more?! It IS huge,I've never seen a Ceanothus this big or one that has become a fully grown TREE,  It's also an evergreen and we'd hate to lose it as it's the best

Help choosing climbers

strong. I guess you want to screen off the oil tank. 5 feet of height is not much for a climber. You could grow some short climbing roses such as Climbing Shropshire Lad, or an evergreen such as jasminium nudiflorum. Not sure about fruit trees

Montana to grow up it?? You don't say what type of conifer it was, how big it was or how long you have had it for.  As trees go, some conifers are relatively short-lived.  Alternatively, it may have died through disease, or through drought.  It's hard
