I've been given a small seakale plant (a rooted cutting really) I think they can get pretty huge and I don't have much space. If I force young shoots every years will that keep it small? If you force a plant you must also allow it to grow to full

My son bought me a lovely hydrangea in a small pot for Mother's day. It was sold as a pot plant. Am I right in thinking I could plant it outside, or would it have been forced or something to flower at this time and so be unsuitable for the garden
