Talkback: Robins
'm surprised that anyone should question why robins are associated with Christmas. When Christ was in the manger, the little fire available was fanned by the robins' wings so that the infant could keep warm. In doing so their breast became scorched by kathryn.brock

Lavender for lavender bags
Hi I want to make lavender bags for, dare I mention the word in August?? Christmas but I don't know when to cut and dry the flowers. Cut them in early to full flower when the weather is dry - preferably in the morning to get the best by Sillybug

I have one of theses which usually lives in the conservatory and for some reason this year it's decided to bud earlier than usual so I've brought it in the house to try to encourage it to flower for Christmas. I've read it likes a cold period by The Ice Queen

Competition perfect for gardeners!
for green fingers! You enter on the website - www.carex.co.uk x Great idea, but you can't buy a greenhouse with red letter day vouchers!  Or I would be entering like a shot.  Hmmm, might be a good idea for OH's Christmas present, I'm sure he'd enjoy a spot by Annapix

Growing hyacinths in water
Hi all, I'd like my gardening club (primary school children) to grow hyacinths to take home at Christmas. I ideally would like to grow them in water so the children can see the roots. My problem is what kind of clear (everyday) container could I use by Daintiness
