Talkback: How to make compost
in waste/burn.You will get away with annual weeds, but dandi, docks & nettles are really persistant. I find that works best for me.Making sure your composter is placed where you get sun most of the day aids heating up which will break down waste faster,& a by jazcaz

How tidy is your garden?
weeds are removed? We are all different...we don't all wear the same clothes or like the same food. I'm not into natural wild gardening or gardening with annuals but I can still enjoy seeing this style. Variety is good...no style is better than by Woodgreen wonderboy

Ideas for back garden design-without lawn!
Hi there I am looking for an affordable way to give my back garden a makeover. At the moment it has approx three feet of concrete, which I am thinking of decking over. Then it has a horrible weed covered lawn and a small raised area at the back by NotSoGreenFingered

Are sterile plants any good for wildlife?
and have some of the biennial forms as the white one in particular looks very good in my shady area.   Pam's choice is another favourite and I have seeds to sow for next year.  I do mine in pots as I know where they are and OH can't accidentally weed them by Lunarz

to brushing past it on my way to the garden and releasing that fabulous smell. It will be a real tonic post op as my gardening this Spring is limited to throwing annual seeds and hoping something will appear when I get out of hospital - a cup of lemon brew by Philippa

Talkback: Growing cut flowers on the allotment
friendly flowers that I grow I shall plant lots of annuals in the veg plot just for them to enjoy. I'm sure it will less stressful than trying unsuccessfully to stop the slugs eating most of my veggies. What a great idea. Don't think there are any hives by Maria

Ideas for new rented property
then the cheapest method is to sow seed, but that takes longer than turfing. You could put down bark chips instead of grass on some of it to have as a base for a child's play area. Put down a weed supressant permeable membrane first and cover thickly with bark by adejones

Wildflowers
in grass I'd go down the plugs (or larger), route. If I was sowing a hay meadow from scratch I'd sow everything in weedfree soil in the autumn. If I was growing an annual cornfield mix (cornflowers, poppies, corncockle etc. I'd sow direct into cultivated by Bookwormy
