mound lawns

with frequent turning the stuffs composted in no time at all.We also added the odd bucket of pond water with algae and duck weed in it, keeping it moist certainly helps. Don't worry about the egg shells, they will help keep the slugs at bay! Hi, I have an ant by Estelle Bryers

and was horrified to find the bin full of ants and ant eggs at least I think they are the eggs of the ants. Will these be the culprits and can I do the moving or what do I do? Someone please help at 74 this will not be a pleasent or easy job. I have had most by Mary

be avoided? I put grease (vaseline or similar) aound the bottom of my broad bean plants - this seems to work quite well as the ants won't climb up through the grease and therefore the blackfly does not seem to appear of colonise Yes, I too read with envy by hereisabee

and leave my small lemon tree (pot grown)our all year, this year it has been covered in ants and they have left the leaves covered in black stuff,so at the moment I have the pot sitting in water which seems to have deterred the ants, it also has wasps by kaycurtis

Root destroying insects
(see) My flowers are wilting due to small black insects. When I dig them up there are no roots left. They dont eat the flowers or leaves. Does anyone know what they are and how to get rid of them. It isn't ants is it?-how do you know it is the insects by Sue31

No Ladybirds
I've been hand weeding all day and I haven't seen one single ladybird - nor any larvae.  What's happened to them all?  I was amazed at the amount of ants there are out there.  Also the greenfly and blackfly population has expanded on last year by Robot

now in my garden there is a swarn of about 10 to 25 starlings in my garden amazing Ants are very nutritious, apparently. Let a good proportion of these hedges to be Yew (Taxus baccata), which requires less cutting, in fact the cuttings can be dried by hereisabee
