Clematis
Help, I have a summer flowering clematis about 4years old. Every summer from June - July it grows beautifully loads of flowers and healthy green leaves. Come August black fly attack flowers. I have tried leaving them and letting the ants eat them by Caz8

a little tip
A cheap tip that works,without harming anything, put a ring of vaseline around your tubs now to prevent slugs,weavels and ants getting at your plants,i also put a ring around the fruit trees to stop the coddling moth crawling up and infesting by gail collins

tea bags
can any Pearson tell me can you put tea bags on borders or do they cause ants No they won't cause ants - I put them in my compost bin and spread the resulting compost on the borders - the bags are not totally biodegradable nowadays as most of them by red john

My bay tree's leaves have gone yellow. What can I do to rectify this.
it got ants?  Bay's suffer from attacks by scale insects, which if heavily infested suck the life out of its host, check its trunk /stems for these little critters !! Oh, edit isn't working again !! Forgot to say, it may need a feed if you haven by Pat Bedlington

Snowdrops
or insects theres not much growing at the moment so they will make a beeline for ant fresh new growth. Its the bulbs that are most toxic. did you know Cancer reserch are using the bulbs of snowdrops and certain parts of daffodils for a cure for some types by gardengnome2
