Herb infestation

Leylandii Hedge - mixed colours?
, whereas if you do that with Leylandii  it will stay brown for ever. And I don't think the Thuja suffer from aphids as the Leylandii do either. Or there are lots more choices of hedging  http://www.hedgesdirect.co.uk/acatalog/western_red_cedar.html I've got by steve 5

Dilemma - Corkscrew Hazel
in Jan/Feb, and the Long-Tailed Tits which arrive in a gang and work over it in search of aphids and the like for a good 10 minutes at a time. I also secretly enjoy the on-going competition with the squirrels to see who can collect the most Cobnuts by quercus_rubur

Marigolds in the veg patch
fly off broad beans. I fit wasn't for this lurgy they would have been in by now. Will keep you posted. Tagetes does deter white fly, not sure about marigods though but am tryin them this year as well. Also bought what DT brown call an aphid mix am by Verdun

everyone. I've often seen ants crawling on my paeonies, especially over the buds, but didn't realise (as Marie says) that ants were helping buds open in some way. I always though the ants were moving aphids (mainly blackfly) onto my plants by peony

infestations - but do have lots of blue its ( aphids) and ladybirds, ditto, aphids, blackbirds and starlings - slugs and snails and so on and so on.  The only exception is the darned lily beetle which nothing hrere recognises as prey - but I can often be found by blackest
