Talkback: Birds: thrushes and fieldfares

, as you say, there are lots to come. The oak trees have not started yet. Well, in my front garden (North Derbyshire) I have 3 daffodils in flower! Is this a record? I enjoy picking up the leaves in my garden. I don,t rake much as i get grass and other by James Bond

Planting for a Philosophy Garden
or trees in pots from a nursery (in exchange for giving them some free advertising). Could you get some art students to make some artifical trees, like theatrical props. My winter pansies and violas are still in flower in early May. I dig them up to plant by Fleur Shorthouse

few aphids of any colour in my garden too, Pippa, but I do have lots of ladybirds so they could be the reason. My big worry is a fox which has dug beneath my Bramley apple tree and made a den underneath it. The tree has tons of fruit on it by delmonte

Suggestions please
an apple tree I'd love to have space for one. I have a lilac shrub which I keep pruned to about 7ft so we can enjoy the scented blossom then through it I grow clematis to give it added interest.As for perennials I would agree with Lizzie hardy geraniums by yvonne parsons2

years before planting. This helps to reduce the chances of diseases and pests and maintains nutrient levels in the soil. Hope this helps! very good information but not on apple trees i have a pink lady from seed and its got some kind of white fungal by ianmcrighton

I give up!
behind it; and a few Pink Fir Apple and Edsel Blue potatoes tight against the south rim, so they could cascade over the edge.  I then planted six bush tomatoes in front of the lilies, and over the top of the daffodils I put onion and shallott setts by francesmhendry

Fruit for amatures
are bought self -propagating-again relatively easy protect from slugs All may need protection from birds Tree fruit is more of a waiting game and the pruning can be tricky Just my immediate thoughts Autumn fruiting Raspberries are very good, expensive to buy by ApprenticeSam

Supporting plants
they are great so it doesn't matter - but it might if you are growing some nice perrennials or annuals later on.) Have just trimmed some prunings from the crab apple tree and a huge fuchsia - they will make good plant supports with raffia for tying in.   I use by Chris 7

in pots, haven't had enough sun though too get things to where they should be now, must say the blueberries are great and still cropping. and my little apple tree which is a bramley type apple is great, still the other things may pick up. I decided to grow by lusia62
