Planting aubretia in cracks in sleepers
I would like to plant some aubretia in some deep cracks in some retaining railway sleepers to spill over the sides. Is it just a matter of filling the cracks with soil and bunging them in? Any tips on maximising the chances of them establishing by Dan 2

What is this strange plant?
Can anyone tell what this evil-looking specimen is? I bought a potted aubretia plant which subsequently died and this odd-looking plant appeared in its place. The leaves are covered with strange funnel-like formations. I have never seen anything by leisurelypainter
