crocus/colchicum
I've got an autumn crocus/colchicum just out. It's on the blue side of mauve, quite a dark sombre looking colour. The name 'Emperor' is in my mind but I've done a web seach and nothing came up. Any ideas? Look inside the flower at the stamen by nutcutlet

Red Filbert
filberts but don't know when to harvest them or what to do with them after harvest. I imagine the colour change with the leaves is due to autumn and nothing to worry about. Pick the nuts when the husks are hard, and dry them somewhere warm-ish, sunny by skywoman

the kiftsgate rose on a north slope? All ideas will be gratefully explored and it is year round colour I am after   I think you'd be better off with things like the coloured stemmed cornus planted in groups of contrasting colours.   I have 4 and they all happily by Kate42

Tree/Shrub ID
.  Thanks            Can you or your parents give us a few more clues? Flower colour, time of flowering, do the leaves colour up in autumn? Evergreen or deciduous, that's quite helpful to know, cuts the possibilities down In the middle of the bottom pic by Si Jon

flowers that change colouer
on the outside and white in the middle Yes, flowers can change colour as they develop, and many, many do. Take a look at my blog from last autumn about Tulip 'Antoinette'. This tulip starts as a pale yellow colour, but gradually becomes more pink as it develops by drak

what can i plant for autumn and winter flowering...and
in some young mountain ash trees (sorbus) which will have pretty berries on and pretty foliage in the colder months.  There are lovely trees that have good colour in autumn, and there are things which flower in winter such as helleborus, witch hazel by filmbuffy

Help! What colour should I paint my fence?
this one next time... but that needs 2 coats... I don't like colours like 'Harvest Gold' 'Autumn Brown' or even 'Country Oak' as I have found there is too much orange in them to my eye... but it's up to you, you might like those colours, but I find by happycottontail
