Getting rid of slugs

Photinia Red Robin (Photinia x fraseri)
the top colour is bright red, and look just right but all is not well, the top has leaves and colour but the bottom  two thirds of the shrubs have lost here leaves over the last few years and some of the lower branches are dead there is no filling out by DTI-Dave

specimen plants for north easterly aspect
 north-east facing Hebe Midsummer Beauty that is no trouble in a heavily shaded corner and flowers profusely in summer, several euonymus that never complain and a couple of Acers also very happy in shade with incredible autumn colour. All of the above offer structure by topsham

clay soil so little choice of plants
ground cover and Japanese anemones will give you late colour into autumn.   Aquilegias for late spring colour, bergenias for foliage ineterst and late winter/early spring flowers, campanulas, knapweed, euphorbias if you like acid colours, hellebores by Renu

, and see if that colours it up? All my acers receive direct sunlight between 1 - 5pm, and non of them have made any complaints about this.   Thanks for your comments, I will see what happens this Autumn and take it from there. my acers havent had so many by Robert Richards

Small tree for front garden
as are some varities of Sambucus. I have amalanchier on my 'list' , They have bloosom, berries for birds and amazing autumn colour but recently have added a Cercis Forest Pansy to the list- if you google it it looks fantastic for colour and interest by Marie4

Pots of summer colour in partial shade
I haven't got around to the planned big tree chop this autumn/winter AGAIN so was hoping for some help with getting some summer colour in the shady bit of my garden - it needs to flower for ages - perhaps something tender or half by auntie betty
