clay soil late summer flowers (slug proof but bee friendly)
in to get some colour.  Ive bought lavender to attract the bees but wondered if anyone had any ideas? - i've lost so many to slugs and our clay over the years. I have clay soil (old brickworks next door) and Japanese Anemone grows well, but they do seem by Ems2

One cornus or three?
partner is less convinced ! Any advice welcome If you want to keep the strong colour of the stems in winter, you should give the cornus a harsh haircut (down to 15cms / 6ins) every spring.  So I'd put 3 in there, with plenty of other things towards by Rebecca Thomas

Pot bound Acer Dissectum 'Viridis'
is in autumn. thanks all. I have several of varying sizes, which are (nearly) all in the ground now. It's just, with this being the biggest, and my first one, I want to give it the best chance. It has the most glorious colours in autumn...and the blue tits by lilwead

or variegated, viburnum Eve Price which has flowers in winter, skimmia ditto.  For the holly and skimmia to bear fruit you need one of each sex in the neighbourhood or garden.  I'd also plant some shrubs with coloured stems that glow in winter such as cornus by biggarden_smallknowledge

autumnal colour when they don't have leaves and can be pruned to any size, I have one in a window box that I keep at 2ft. by jamesburke

What can I Sow now in my raised bed?
stemmed variety. Bright Lights are brilliant--not only tasty but cheerful colours all through winter. Winter lettuce is good too. I'm planting and sowing autumn garlic, onions, shallots, cabbages and kale to keep the veg patch full over winter. by Bettyslad

Ruuner Bean roots- a problem?
attached to the roots. They are round and sandy coloured. Does any anyone have an idea what this could be and if I ignore it or if it is likely to be a problem, how do I deal with it? Many thanks Madeleiene Did you buy the plants in or sow them yourself by Madeleine51

value grown from seed. I am a bit confused natalia-are you looking for plants for autumn/winter colour? Just looking at my garden now I have several things still flowering. Kaffir Lily (schizostylis coccinea).  It spreads quickly and is beautiful by natalia85

What varieties are you growing this year? Last year I only had 'Dorothy Eckford' a pure white and I loved it, I do prefer a single colour. This year I'm not growing any annual but instead have planted the perennial everlasting pea, one called 'Pink by Salino
