Talkback: Trees for small gardens
, with flowers, fruit and good autumn colour. The birds think they are great too. And they keep the witches away! 30m is not a small tree. This is very misleading. I have a small garden and a tree this size would fill the garden I agree with the comment from by Willowtree

Talkback: Boston ivy and Virginia creeper
cutting from Virginia Creeper. I would like to have a go this autumn I am thinking about buying a 15 yr old house, half of which is covered in Boston Ivy - from foundations to the chimney pot and also encroaching over the windows. Am concerned about by Stopwatchgardener

Weeping Pear - how and when to prune?
very precise mushroom shape. The tree is about 3m high and 2.5m across I've since let it grow out a bit (I don't like really precise shaping...!) and the new foliage is a much prettier colour plus the tree now has tiny little pears in the summer/autumn by LizB62

Shrub suggestions
. Country garden. Any suggestions ?? Photinia 'Red Robin' is a good shrub. Evergreen and the new leaves are red also flowers in summer. Eleangus is also good for all year leaf colour, yellow/silver. Thank you for that suggestion ! We are going to a large by Daisy Cottage

removing daffodils from pots after flowering
I planted my pots with daffodils so I had a show of colour in the garden after winter now they have flowered and died I want my pots for my spring/summer planting. how do I remove the daffodli bulbs from my pots and store them so I can use again by tigger2012

Herbaceous/shrub clematis
flowers.  It dies back completely in the autumn, so I trim off the dead stalks in the spring: there isn't any 'old wood' to preserve.  What am I doing wrong?  Thank you I've had 4 forms of this for sevral years and all flower every year - although it looks by smallswan

Fig Trees 'Brown Turkey'
fertiliser every two weeks & keep well watered. Just at a loss! This is quite normal.  You should have removed all the little figs that were larger than a small pea last Autumn to prevent the plants putting energy into figs that were never going to make it by Lynne Skye

Hi folks, Ive just got my greenhouse up and running and its all new to me. Ive noticed on a couple of my pots (mostly houseplants in there by the way) some little black flies walking on top of the soil. Very small dark coloured things with wings by averil 2

Grapes in the North
. Spechley red and Purpurea are tough 'ornamental' vines and we've made some very good wine with them..lovely Autumn colour too. Thanks for your reply Ron.  What was the Flame like for mildew etc and were the grapes any good?  It will be fully inside a south by Julie King
