Supporting plants
and they are discreet. Bamboo canes for delphiniums, short canes for lupins ...for me they produce thick flowering stems that can break in strong winds....and sturdier poles for tall dahlias. However, most of my plants do not require staking and often by Chris 7

Ideas wanted for feature pot.....
thank you - will take a look. I know what you mean about bay trees. I live in Sheffield and they dont like it . Big pot needs a big plant. I agree with you about a tree [or maybe a bamboo]. I know we tend to be very snooty about conifers by missimaxo

Too many raspberries
these thugs again. Good Luck with yours.  If you have space and want to make/keep a raspberry bed it might be worth getting some of that barrier they use to contain bamboo - it does the same job for wandering raspberries.   In years gone by, professional by Blueboots

Windy roof garden destroying everything
I should think... Perhaps you could use bamboo (several pots) to make some sort of windbreak which would help the rest of the plants.  Other windbreaks could be made from wooden trellis too - and this would also give you something to use for growing by Simon Hearn

Talkback: Urban foxes
no effect. The worst effect is the mess they make on paths ,the garden and the pavement which inevitably gets trodden indoors. They must be a health risk! They are afraid of my cat though. For the last 3 nights we have a fox that sleeps under our bamboo plant by Dragonfly

Inspiration needed! Sunken patio/lawn edging
bikes off there (ramp or no ramp) we might even have stretched to playing parachutes! I see your dilema  Trellis is a good idea or if you're feeling a bit lazy maybe some bamboo / bamboo screens, you culd always grow some climbers up it, scratchy roses by Smithers

Newhouse and new to gardening, plant type and general advice please!
established before fruiting). You could try planting bamboo in a pot (most varieties are invasive, so containing the roots in a pot is a very good idea), you can get black bamboo which is very striking.  A cornus will give interest throughout the year by davielovesgravy

Tropical garden
too. Cordylines do well in their garden. Bamboo isnt realy a tropical plant but creates a tropical look and can handle cold weather. Ferns another tropical looking plant that can handle colder weather & of course Hostas.  Bananas Musa species Musa by bluejan

Talkback: Gardening disputes between neighbours
, the best idea throughout is to be reasonable - th difficulty is everyone construes 'reasonable' differently. I have black bamboo that for sheer growing speed outclasses leylandii - it can hit two vertical metres in a month - however isn't close by despairing Donna
