Talkback: Stag beetles
scary things whizz past,they almost look like young bats (sorry can't spell pipenstail) still now i have leant a bit more i am not so scared! in fact have taken some amazing pics of them. I don't like them getting into the house which is where they seem by fruit trees

Gardening For Wildlife
few unidentified darters Fox, Grey Squirel, Hedgehog, Mice and Stoat. Common Frog and Adder, one inside the house! Pipistrel bat. All the more common birds and cattle egret, common and arctic terns over head, artic skua over, merlin in the garden by Mark Feather

midges
military insect repellent off ebay which is great. Just went outside to see if I could spot the bats and the midges spotted me You are all lucky, as I was allergic to the Avon stuff. That brought me out in a rash before the midges saw me! I was told to take by weejenny

'weeds' at Chelsea
're not fussy about whether it comes from imports such as buddleia or home grown weeds.  It's also easy enough to make insect, hedgehog and bat shelters and provide nesting boxes for birds and log piles for insects and amphibians to shelter. I actually found by Loraine Kelly

Buying plants on line
'll have to source on line.  It's a Tacca or bat flower. I've just been looking at some G.C. s that stock them . Definitely on my wish list. Does anyone have one ? Is it a plant or animal? I always have wish lists for plants? I try to get friends to buy by Verdun

Keeping Chickens
at the moment between 4 and 6 eggs per day-depending My girls are 4 ex-bats who we adopted last August - named after my 4 sisters! I said I'd have chooks when I retired, and I did. They quickly learnt to be proper chickens and grew very feathery. Almost never by David K

the compost bins.  We have foxes too.      And slow worms, here in the compost bin. Amazing steephill! Gorgeous photos Kate Bats too! Although I practically X-rayed this poor bat with the flash. Not easy trying to photograph bats at night in the rain by gardeningfantic
