Will my purple sprouting broccli and aqua dulca broad beans recover from the frost, they re drooping now? My broad beans did last winter, woody3, but I don't know about your purple sprouting broccoli. I wish that our garden had been slippery before by woody3

Hydroponics?
Hello all, I'm wondering can I grow veg such as Runner Beans in the water course of my Koi Pond? I can easily grow water cress, so I am guessing there is enough nutrients occouring naturally in the water. \any help apprciatted   Doesnt sound likely by Paul Little

I know how you feel Kate, I too have had a battle with them. Unlike you, I do have some runner beans growing, though I did think at the start I wouldn't have any left. I must admit that I did put a few pellets down at the start but now I am using by donutsmrs

I love the idea of kitchen waste trenches for beans, courgettes etc and will certainly be trying that next year. Now all I have to do is dig the trenches ready to be filled - another job for the winter! I've never done more than is called for, being by Baloo66

hi I have never growing veg before i am going to chance it i was thinking of the likes of broad beans ect but will have to be growing in pots on bamboo is that a good idea ground space is nill thankyou Broad beans don't need canes.  They don't climb by jamesburke

Sowing seeds in toilet rolls
Anyone have a list of plants that can be succesfully sown using toilet rolls/kitchen rolls? A list??-beans,peas --you can sow anything-lots use it for sweet peas-but they do tend to fall apart as they get soggier The idea is to plant the whole thing by Throstle2

im a first time gardener n your piece really helped thanx. I grow beans in pots-never fails and Slugs and Snails are very few. I too was wondering if my runner beans were ever going to arrive, in spite of having strong plants which were planted out by Andrea Boyd

peas and frost
frost got my runner beans!   Runner beans are a tender veg-they don't like the cold let alone a frost. Peas are hardier Peas are remarkable plants. They cope amazingly with frost when young. In fact, better when they're younger than more mature. Beans by buttercup4
