what to intercrop with squash?
Hi, I've planted up 5 or 6 squash plants in a 2x1m raised bed.  They're still little plants as yet, which leaves quite a lot of soil bare! What could I intercrop with them? Would beetroot / carrots be quick enough, or would they get shaded out by General Disarray

Raised asparagus bed
control weeds in your asparagus beds, I have just planted 3 different types on my 1st allotment. Many years ago I knew a chap who grew it for a living and he used to cover it with table salt to kill weeds.( It's a long story how I know this but it's all by gerrya

Belts and Braces.
once moved to a house where the flower beds in the front garden were all covered in mauve slate.    Ghastly stuff.    I couldn't mulch the soil to improve it, and planting anything into it was a nightmare.    I spent four years trying to remove it by Lawrence G

Talkback: Planting an apple tree
A worthwhile watch. Hi, I've just been given an apple tree, 'James Grieves'. It came in a pot so, last Sunday,I planted it in a raised bed . I made the hole twice the width of the pot and planted it no deeper than the depth of the actual pot by Patsy

Raised beds and pots
Hi Had a raised bed put in last year. Approx 8x8ft and 3ft deep. We planted carrots cabbage and leeks. The greens shot up but the carrots were all top and no root! Just wondered if anyone could suggest high yield compact veg for the raised beds by Greenbucket
