Herb border
growing so won't take over.  Rosemary is also evergreen and lives quite a while if it is happy with soil conditions.  Sage has lovely blue flowers and can also last for several years if cut back when it gets leggy.  Bees go crazy for any of the thymes. Oh by garjobo

Digitalis
, etc Don't normally grow foxgloves as a rule ....... But I thought why not, somewhere for the bees to play ....... Lol I grow a few different foxgloves. My favourite is Digitalis ferruginissima [ the rusty foxglove ] lots of small brown / yellow flowers by Brumbull

Plant identification please
first moved in. That's great thank you. Is there anything I should know? It seems to look after itself and the bees love it. Pieris, like acid soil same as Rhododendrons  Pieris 'Forest Flame' If it seems happy then it's probably in the right place by Jo Stephenson

environmental responsiblity
.  please can i ask that you think about our native wildlife, frogs, bees, birds badgers etc when treating wood?  we don't fully know the extent that the careless use of poducts has had on our species but we do realise now that we have to save them from by budlia63

Midges/mosquito help!!!
also agree's it works  If you only take water from the tap at the bottom of a water butt then spray the top with WD40, that stops them breeding. I'm also one of those people that the gnats, midgesd and mosquitoes always make a bee-line for and have been by Luubear

Which shrub to plant in this situation...?
flowers and there's a golden leaved variety 'Sundance'. Hebes- loads of varieties to choose from with flowers from white to purple which attract bees. These would do well and they don't need loads of attention.Easy to obtain in GCs or nurseries.Then you by Mrs W

i have just joined this site,i am wild about any thing to do with gardening,nature and wildlife,my garden is planted with any thing to attract,bees,butterflies,and birds,yrs ago if i found greenfly i would be annoyed,but now when i see them i think by gail collins

How late is this 'spring'?
to leap but then a cold wind or gloomy overcast sky halts it all again. Even old reliables are slow this year but what really concerns me is the bees and pollinating insects that I am just not seeing much of. I hope all is well.   I garden in Hampshire by Portnoy

HELP Please! Anyone know what this is?
. It never suckered at all unlike the wild cherry and the cherry plum which send suckering roots out for miles across the garden. It was a beautiful specimen about 12ft high with a canopy about 18ft across. Bees love it too. It just fell over one sad by MindyWillis
