Talkback: How to make a bee hotel
Last year I made a hedgehog house, dont knpow yet whether I had one take up residence as I havent looked yet We saw bees using a small hole under a waterfall construction in the garden, last year and could hear noise of the activity under there,(bees by rogerdennis

How and where to site a Bee house ??
hello, having decided at the beginning of last year to try and encourage more bees/butterflies and then planted the relevant plants/flowers (then we had the wettest summer so far !!!). i would now like to help even further by building by shazza3

This does not make sense, if you want to be bee friendly just pull it out by hand or chop it down? Sometimes buddleia and valerian grow out of walls, so it's very difficult to eradicate them by hand. by May2

clay soil late summer flowers (slug proof but bee friendly)
in to get some colour.  Ive bought lavender to attract the bees but wondered if anyone had any ideas? - i've lost so many to slugs and our clay over the years. I have clay soil (old brickworks next door) and Japanese Anemone grows well, but they do seem by Ems2

How can one remove a lawn bee infestation? HI Mike, I read in March edition of Gardeners World that these bees are called Tawny mining bees and they build their nests in sunny lawns and borders from March to May. They say that these bees by MIke Smith

Damnation to double flowers
The trend for too long now has been to develop, market and grow large, blowsy, double flowers. Not sure if nature ever evolved any doubles or whether they are an unnautural abberation. And what about the poor bees and their various cousins by Woodgreen wonderboy

Non-cultivar flowering plants
I would be pleased to hear from any readers who can suggest non-cultivar plants for a rather shaded garden, in the hope that butterflies and bees will become a less rare sight in my garden (I know they're declining, anyway ... very sad).  A friend by Barry Williams2
