Talkback: Asparagus beetles
HiOn my asparagus I have asparagus beetle larvae (I missed picking off some of the eggs). I also have blackfly and another beetle which I first thought was a ladybird larvae but now realise it isn't. It's about the same size and shape by bunnysgarden

In the summer I can't remember exactly when, I found a rather ill looking Dor beetle and picked it up to see what was wrong. I found it was covered in mite on it's underside, so I took a toothbrush(an old one!) and brushed away the mite and took by Nature girl

Thank you Richard. At last, a picture of a female stag beetle. It's usually the male that gets all the publicity so people don't know what the female looks like. Even in last year's excellent article in GW magazine, there were pictures of males by Barbara Pennell

Talkback: Viburnum beetle
Could we have a photo of the adult viburnum beetle please. I have tiny holes in my V Plicatum Mary Milton but not seen the beetle itself or the larvae as yet. Not found a picture of a Viburnum beetle, but can tell you that if your Viburnum has them by Beverley Jones

Magnificent creatures! Have seen these around my garden in Kent in the last week or so. Thanks for the link to the Stag Beetle Survey. Must send off my record too! Very interesting, I haven't had the pleasure of seeing one of these chaps by angelfreem1976

Oh no, lily beetles are back!
faded completely. Almost every pot had a pair of red lily beetles mating at the top of the highest lilly shoot!  It looks like it's time for all the lily-lovers here to start inspecting them for these damaging pests.  I'm tempted to spray with a systemic by BobTheGardener

I LOVE LOVE LOVE stag beetles! Do they come in two sizes? I sometimes see small ones -- are they the younger generation? every year my sister has loads of the giant buggers in her garden, not so good for the dogs though as they hang onto the fur by fruit trees
