baskets and take the basket out after they have finished flowering. I also have clay soil and the tulips do not last, I grow them in pots and daffodils in the ground.  I would also add biennials, wallflowers, honesty, sweet rocket. Go with the flow by Snailspace

Should I dig up my Allysum?

yellow rust on hoolyhocks
toxic insect kiler. Rust is such a major problem for hollyhocks that they are really best treated as a biennial. They will almost certainly get infected in their first year of flowering, and rust spores will splash up from the soil onto lower leaves by danielle giampappas

attractive to bees, and later to goldfinches. This is a snap I took last year...   Teasel is available from most seed suppliers as seeds, and also as small plants from garden centres in Spring. It's a biennial plant, so seed sown right now should make little by denise butcher
