Talkback: Companion plants
worms I have removed the leaves with the little blighters but is there anything else I should be doing. The poached egg plant also keeps down the weeds. I have great swathes of it in my garden and even bindweed can be defeated if you cover the ground by Vida

Talkback: Daffodil care
of the daffodils were blind this spring so in an attempt to rid the garden of bindweed I've dug them all up. Has anyone any ideas what is best to do with them now? replant them, cut them, dry them out? I picked loads of beautiful narcisus and daffodils yesterday by Bert

Talkback: Growing Russian vine
of the plants from labels. Does Russian vine smother bindweed, James? A monster of a climber it seems - I'm looking for something to grow up the back of my house but have very limited soil around the edges due to paths etc, it's north facing and rather dull by donutsmrs

Poppy seed
may well be the answer.  I've spent years sprinkling poppy seed in the borders & hoping it will take. Most of the time nothing. Last year we pulled everything out of a bed, dug it all over to try to get rid of the bindweed, filled it with bulbs & rose by lucky3

Best and worst
- "plants for free" is my motto .  My worst job has to be getting rid of those ever present brambles - I never seem to win that fight without injury! Best is planting new stuff out.  Worst is weeding out couch grass, creeping buttercup, nettles and bindweed by Brumbull

Ground elder in compost bin
for years, as opposed to months. Although it doesn't stop the bindweed and marestail, it does help to reduce the level of attack. MY compost bins are double the size of your average bath and I have two of them, both homemade. Once a year the contents of both by Nik&Ann

Rosebay Willowherb
is dandelion alley... we all have a cross to bear. at least it's not bindweed or ground elder. Thank you! I should have said that I'd prefer not to use chemicals as we have a cat and there are several next door too, who roam into our garden frequently. Knowing by Pinklepurr

The jungle in my garden needs to go.
of bindweed and what little funds we had only managed a few fence panels to shut it all out, hence why my 100ft garden is only mature for the first 30ft. A new family and several skips of garden rubbish later, the brambles were expunged and life became more by FatTony

Please help in identifying these plants
http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii542/ClemNewcastle/identifyplant7.jpgYes, this is bindweed; it does actually have quite pretty white flowers; but most people would remove it. The roots may go quite deep and would need to be removed too,.#8 http by ANewcastleMum
