Talkback: Bird baths
I felt so guilty this morning when, on opening the curtains, I saw a blackbird pecking at the ice on our bird bath. This friendly bird is a regular user of the bath and splashes around in it daily, usually emptying most of the water out by Helen

Talkback: Garden birds and their predators
Funny - a friend of mine (in Kent) just posted on Facebook that he had buzzards hunting the woods behind his house this morning. They get about. My garden is usually visited by the smaller birds and nextdoors cats, that sit under the Butterfly bush by Harry Hilly

small trees that attract birds
Hi, can anyone advise me on good tree for a small garden that will attract birds? I think the ones that birds love the most are the ones that have berries in the autumn that they can munch on. Hawthorn, Rowan (mountain ash), crab apple. Thanks I by BartStew

Where are all the birds ?
I normally get birds in my garden but this autumn and winter I have had hardly any, just a few blackbirds and pigeons.  I have bird feeders out dotted around the garden but no visitors.  Where are they all ? Will the food be ok to leave out (it by Lavender Lady

Choosing plant for birds
I have recently started feeding birds on my balcony. Bluetits, Blackbirds and Thrushes (may be female Blackbirds, I've only seen them from the roadside) at the minute. I would like to grow some kind of shrub that is suitable for a large container by John Bradshaw

What is this little bird please?
I spend many happy hours watching this little bird bringing home tasty treats for its young but don't know what it is.  I'm not a very good twitcher but I have a garden full of birds. I assume there are two birds in which case they both look by Robot

This is more exactly my experience too, here in North Derbyshire. A bird I had never seen before, but very handsome.A quick scrabble for the binoculars -no its not a thrush- scan through the bird book, couldn't find it at first sweep. One phone call by Doubledaisy22
