Feeding Birds / Protecting your plants
I find it interesting that under 'jobs to be done this week' it is suggested that we cover fruit trees and bushes to stop birds eating the emerging fruit buds and at the same time we get a whole raft of suggestions on how best to feed our garden by Beanli

feeding wild birds
I have been watching Gardeners World as usual this evening and was so impressed with Wild Life Kate.   She showed a really good wild bird feeder called a super feeder which could hold three different types of wild bird seed. She purchased by Carol Mc

best kind of bird feeder?
So far I've only really scattered a few peanuts around, but mainly squirrels get those...and whenever I tried a sunflower shaped wire bird feeder (hanging type) all the nuts kept getting soaked and spoiled. What's the best type to use which also by Jess is in the Garden

Talkback: Feeding garden birds in winter
That's some image, Pippa - birds in home-knitted socks! But I do agree we need to take care of the birds. They are the gardener's best friends. My garlic will be sown in pots, which i will do at the kitchen table, covered with plastic. Needs must by Lanaeve

Bird seed falling in pond
It will be such a shame to fill the pond in with soil or rocks, as the birds do drink from it.  I have a small garden, and there is nowhere else for the pond to go without a lot of disruption unfortunately.  Has anyone got any ideas?  I already have the seed tray by Lunarz
